Thuvakkam has moved into a new office space as of May 8th, 2022. A larger office to accommodate the growing team and expanding projects. The ceremony was attended by the family members of Thuvakkam directors, an occasion filled with memories and hope. Mr. Bharathi Tamizhan (Editor – The Hindu Tamil) inaugurated the office space with a ribbon cutting. Mr. CK Kumar released the Annual Report of Thuvakkam for the year 2021-2022, and Mr. Bharathi received the first copy. Thuvakkam’s partners, mentors, gardeners & caretakers, and well-wishers also graced the occasion.

Urban forestry in Hyderabad

Thuvakkam has so far created and maintained 32 forests in Tamilnadu. The Urban Forestry project following the Miyawaki technique has found great success in creating oxygen banks and bio-diversity pockets in the concrete cityscape. Thuvakkam took this project across the borders to Gachibowli, Hyderabad to set up a forest in the shared capital city.

Working in collaboration with SAHE NGO (Society For Advancement of Human Endeavor) and the Blue Hyderabad project, Thuvakkam planted 1200+ saplings at Kudikunta lake. Backed by Firstsource, Thuvakkam will maintain the forest for a period of 2 years, with regular watering, maintenance and taking care of the saplings. The project is a new venture for Thuvakkam in familiar grounds. Thuvakkam has restarted the efforts in Hyderabad after 2017.
