Apiculture Development Project
Honey Bee Hives
Farmers
Hectares of Farmland
The Apiculture Development Project was designed to introduce beekeeping as a sustainable agri-allied livelihood at the grassroots level. Implemented across horticulture-intensive villages, the project aimed to enhance crop productivity, farmer income, and ecological balance through effective pollination services provided by honey bees.
By integrating apiculture into existing farming systems, the project created a dual impact—increased agricultural yields and an additional source of income through honey production—while promoting environmentally responsible farming practices.
Project Objectives
- Promote beekeeping as an integrated practice in horticulture
- Create additional income opportunities for small and marginal farmers
- Improve crop yields through enhanced pollination
- Build farmer capacity in apiculture, honey harvesting, and value addition
- Strengthen local market readiness for apiculture products
